I wanna know what the world thinks of Singaporean.?

Question

I would like to know what you really think of Singaporeans. Don't wanna read reports of opinions in the newspapers as they are probably politically motivated anyway.

Are they nice, bastards, crude, unrefined, uncultured, kind, clean, friendly, educated, rich, poor, cocky, humble etc etc. Let your opinions flow.

Most people whom I know in my hometown of Seattle Washington don't usually know what Singapore is, and they often ask me if it is a part of China similar to Hong Kong or Macau. Since there are so few actual Singaporeans in the world it's very unlikely that a normal person living anywhere in the world will meet many, if any at all.



My personal experience with Singaporeans? They like to complain about everything and anything, and rely on racial stereotypes for everything. I'm a white guy, so everyone thinks I speak English only. My girlfriend is visibly Asian(but born and raised American) so everyone thinks she speaks Chinese. It's incredibly annoying when actually I am the only one of us who can speak Chinese because I studied it all throughout college and lived in China for a long time.



Singaporean English is also extremely hard to understand and I find that all the extra particles (la, liao, le, ha, ma) and the constant shortening of words such as "aircon" make communication very frustrating. Singaporean Chinese is also just as strange, as it constantly mixes words from the different dialects and the tones are often indistinct.

Have ever watched Steph Micayle's opinion about Why I am not proud to be Singaporean? When the video goes viral, some s'poreans's were angry of her but some of them agree with her opinions but for me...take note, I've never been in SG before but I know SG I read a lot of articles about the people in there and made s'porean friends online, anyhow, I agree some of Steph's opinion that they are rude BUT not all of them There is a house owner abused a filipina maid I love SG but there is just something that needs to be improve about who they are and what they are. It's my first time to know that SG is a country because I thought that SG is just part of Malaysia. I think Singaporeans are all geeky and nerdy about Japanese merchandices, animes, etc because they have lots of cosplayers in there so what I'm goinf to say is they look ridiculous abd weirdo. (I say thay because I'm not that tyle of person) BUT don't get me wrong I REALLY LOVE SG because of their conservative-NESS

in general they are 'ok' people to be around with...

SEAN n OPTICAL are right. All sorts here--The Good, Bad and Ugly. You will find them in every country. Disregard some negative people. Just enjoy the good food, cleanliness, conveniences, relative safety, and many other positive things.

Most are selfish. Not friendly.Does not even smile. Does not like to help another person. Even if a visitor asks for a direction the answer is ' I dont know '

not my favourite place to visit....most singaporeans are quite racist...and not very helpful to foreigners espeacially asian foreigners. and you have to pay for every thing. i asked my coke without ice and the guy charged me extra....they don't do that in malaysia.
