Because the relative value of watching a movie in Singapore compared to the common man's salary is worth that - about S$8 thereabouts (US$5 give or take). If you think that's expensive, in America, a regular movie (not even IMAX) is US$10. In the UK, it's £10 (around US$18). Still, people in the States and the UK go to the theatres to watch movies, because they can afford them.

They have a common rate like which movie and rating. Usually PG-18 or S-18 are more expensive 12S$ -- 20S$. But more childlish one like Mr. Bean will be more cheaper 8S$-- 10S$. Golden Village cinema have the best service (EURO Style, Golden Style) wow! Once i goto the Golden Style, 50S$ for a UNDEREVOLUTION movie. i can lying on the couch and got a 8 inch LCD screen at the armrest.

Expensive? Have you been to movies in UK or Australia? There are other countries where the price of movie tickets are lower but there are many where they are more expensive.

I don't know how much more expensive movies are in Shanghai, but I'd hazard a guess that probably the Chinese government restricts influences from the west (including movies), and making the cost of watching movies very prohibitive is one way to make sure the citizens don't watch them. (Just a theory though)

i don't think it's expensive. in fact, we're one of the average or even one of the cheapest country in terms of movie tickets. just look at australia and europe.

if you go to the much more popular cinemas, the price of the tix are of cos, much more expensive [ie: cathy ,GV]



cinemas like eng wah cinema tixs are much more cheaper.
